Navy fleet departs for Baku

TEHRAN, Oct. 16 (MNA) – A fleet of two destroyers of Iran’s. Navy has sailed to Baku, Republic of Azerbaijan from its permanent base in Anzali port, the home to 4th Navy Zone in the northern waters.

Damavand destroyer and missile-carrier Jowshan destroyer departed for Baku on Sunday with Rear Adm. Afshin Rezaei Haddad, the Commander of the Northern Fleet attending a brief ceremony where he told reporters that the fleet was carrying message of peace for neighbors and that the regular exchange of fleets would boost ties with neighbors.

“Republic of Azerbaijan welcomes broadening ties with Iran, to which the sea contributes through closing the gaps in bilateral relations; our fleet staff should behave according to their code of conduct and Baku authorities will organize a lavish welcome ceremony in the destination,” he told the staff. “Exchange of fleets in regular basis is a priority for the Northern Fleet, and we had been receiving fleets of Caspian littoral countries, to communicate our message of peace and friendship as the Navy’s duty and to have flag of the Islamic Republic of Iran fly in the coasts of the neighboring countries.”
